vCISO Services
Many organizations lack dedicated cybersecurity leadership. Without a strategic approach to managing risk, security efforts become reactive, fragmented, and ineffective.
CyberShield Advisory provides virtual CISO (vCISO) services that deliver executive-level cybersecurity leadership without the cost of a full-time hire.
Our vCISO services give you a named security leader, a clear roadmap and regular reporting to leadership, sized to your organization and budget.

What Our vCISO Services Include
A virtual CISO gives you the judgment of a senior security leader on a part-time basis. Our vCISO services follow a steady rhythm, so security stays on the agenda instead of coming up only after an incident, an audit request or an insurance renewal. A typical engagement includes:
- Regular check-ins: a review of open risks and remediation progress with your leadership and your IT team or MSP
- Executive reporting: a clear summary of risk, progress against the roadmap, and the decisions that need leadership attention
- An annual reassessment: a refreshed risk assessment against NIST CSF 2.0 and CIS Controls v8.1 (and the HIPAA Security Rule or C2M2 where they apply), plus an updated roadmap and budget guidance
- Help as needed: policy writing and review, vendor security reviews, cyber insurance questionnaires, and support when customers or auditors ask security questions
How vCISO Services Work With Your IT Team or MSP
A vCISO doesn’t replace your IT staff or your managed service provider. Your IT team or MSP keeps running day-to-day systems. The vCISO sets priorities, defines what “done” looks like for each item, and tracks progress until it is closed. That split keeps accountability clear and avoids paying for the same work twice.
Progress is measured against recognized standards such as the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, so it is tracked the same way every time and is easy to explain to a board, an insurer or an auditor.
Are vCISO Services Right for You?
vCISO services are usually a good fit for organizations that:
- Handle sensitive data such as patient records, client files or financial information
- Are answering security questionnaires from customers, partners or cyber insurers
- Have an IT team or MSP, but no one who owns security strategy
- Have completed a risk assessment and need someone to drive the roadmap to completion
Not sure yet? Start with a security risk assessment. It shows where you stand today and whether ongoing vCISO services make sense for your organization.
Common Questions
How is a vCISO different from an MSP? An MSP manages and fixes your systems. A vCISO decides what matters most, sets the security plan, and makes sure the work gets done and documented.
Can a vCISO help with HIPAA? Yes. For healthcare organizations, the vCISO keeps the HIPAA Security Rule risk analysis current and tracks the risk management plan that follows from it.
How is it priced? Every engagement is scoped and priced in writing before work starts, so there are no surprise invoices.
