About CyberShield Advisory LLC

Senior security leadership for organizations that don't have a security leader on staff. Led by Harris Ejiofor, an independent cybersecurity consultant based in Knoxville, TN.

Most small healthcare practices, professional firms and growing businesses face the same threats as large enterprises, without a security team to deal with them. They get vague audit findings, long scan reports nobody reads, and vendors selling tools before anyone has asked what the real risks are.

CyberShield Advisory LLC exists to fix that. Every engagement answers four questions in plain English:

  • What are our most important risks?
  • What should we fix first?
  • Who should do the work: our IT team, our MSP, or CyberShield?
  • How do we track progress until it’s done?

We don’t sell software, and we don’t hand out certificates of compliance. No one can certify HIPAA compliance, and HHS doesn’t. What we give you is an honest, evidence-based picture of where you stand and a plan your team can act on.

What you can expect

  • A fixed fee, agreed in writing before work starts
  • Plain-English reports for leadership, with the technical detail your IT team needs
  • A Business Associate Agreement signed before we access any patient data
  • Your data kept encrypted in CyberShield-controlled systems and destroyed on a set schedule
  • We work alongside your IT team or MSP, not against them

Why work with an independent cybersecurity consultant?

An independent cybersecurity consultant works for you, not for a software vendor or a reseller. Recommendations are based on your risks and your budget, not on what someone needs to sell this quarter. It also means you can bring in a cybersecurity consultant to check work done by your IT team or MSP, so no one is grading their own homework.

Harris holds the ISACA CISM certification, which focuses on security governance, risk management and running a security program, the areas small organizations most often lack. As your cybersecurity consultant, he brings that program-level view together with hands-on experience in the tools your team already uses.

Some organizations start with a single assessment and keep the same cybersecurity consultant on as their vCISO to see the roadmap through. Either way, you work directly with Harris, the cybersecurity consultant who leads your engagement, from the first call to the final report.

Harris has more than 15 years in IT, including over 8 years focused on information security, across security engineering, network and systems engineering, vulnerability management, security operations, risk management and compliance. He works hands-on with the platforms organizations use every day: Microsoft 365, Microsoft Defender, Entra ID, Purview, CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, Splunk, Palo Alto, Fortinet, CyberArk, Qualys and Nessus.

Every engagement is led by Harris personally, not handed to a junior analyst reading from a checklist. Recommendations are grounded in how systems actually run, and every finding is explained in terms of business impact.

Why I started CyberShield Advisory LLC

In more than 15 years in IT, I’ve watched the same story repeat. An organization believes it’s protected because someone told them it was. The vendor installed a firewall. The MSP said MFA was turned on. Last year’s checklist came back clean. Then you look closer: MFA covers some accounts but not all, the backups have never been test-restored, and a former employee’s account is still active. Nobody was careless. Those gaps were simply overlooked, and overlooked gaps are exactly what attackers look for.

I came up through IT infrastructure before I moved into security, and I’ve spent my career inside large enterprise environments where these mistakes are expensive. That background is what I bring to every assessment. I don’t just know the frameworks; I know how the systems behind them actually run, and where they quietly break.

I started CyberShield because smaller practices and firms deserve that same level of care, without enterprise cost or overhead. I’ll tell you plainly what’s working, what isn’t, and what to fix first. I’ll answer every question you have, and I won’t recommend spending a dollar you don’t need to spend. My job is to find your gaps before an attacker does, and to help you close them.

How We Work

Assess against recognized standards

We review your systems, policies and Microsoft 365 settings against NIST CSF 2.0, CIS Controls v8.1 and, where they apply, the HIPAA Security Rule and C2M2.

Rank what matters

Findings are ranked by real-world risk, business impact and compliance exposure, so your time and budget go to the gaps that matter most.

Plan who does the work

You get a phased roadmap with an owner for every item: your IT team, your MSP, or CyberShield. Remediation is always scoped separately, so you’re never locked in.

Track progress to done

A plan of action with dates keeps everyone accountable, and ongoing vCISO support is available if you want a security leader in your corner.

What We Do

  • Cybersecurity Risk Assessments — Framework-based assessments that show where you stand and what to fix first.
  • HIPAA Security Risk Assessments — The risk analysis the HIPAA Security Rule requires, with likelihood, impact and a response for each risk to ePHI.
  • Microsoft 365 Security Assessments — Reviews of Entra ID, MFA and Conditional Access, Defender, Purview, Intune, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive, with clear fixes.
  • Vulnerability & Network Scanning — Authorized internal and external scans that find exposed systems, missing patches and misconfigurations, ranked by risk.
  • Security Roadmaps — Phased plans that turn findings into a clear path with realistic timelines.
  • Vendor Risk Reviews — Checks on the security of the vendors and service providers who handle your data.
  • vCISO Services — Ongoing security leadership, strategy and executive reporting without the cost of a full-time CISO.
  • Security Remediation — Hands-on help closing the gaps your assessment found, scoped separately and done by your IT team, your MSP, or CyberShield.
  • Cloud Security & Compliance — Microsoft 365 and cloud security reviews and compliance readiness for HIPAA, NIST CSF 2.0 and CIS Controls.

Frameworks We Use

Our assessments and recommendations are built on established, widely recognized standards:

  • NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) 2.0
  • CIS Critical Security Controls v8.1
  • HIPAA Security Rule (for organizations handling ePHI)
  • Cybersecurity Capability Maturity Model (C2M2) v2.1 (for energy, utility, water and manufacturing organizations)

Industries We Serve

Healthcare and group homes

Practices, clinics, behavioral health providers and group homes protecting patient data and meeting HIPAA requirements.

Law, CPA and title firms

Professional firms protecting client files and financial data, including FTC Safeguards Rule obligations for tax preparers.

Energy, utilities, water and manufacturing

Organizations with operational technology measuring their maturity with C2M2 and NIST CSF.

Small and mid-sized businesses

Growing companies that need right-sized security without enterprise complexity.

Find out where you stand

Start with a free assessment. In a few minutes you’ll see your likely gaps and what to look at first. It’s a starting point, not a compliance certificate: a short assessment can’t establish full compliance, and we’ll tell you honestly what a full review would cover.
